Music Tuition

I offer private tuition in saxophone, clarinet, flute and music theory.

With over 10 years of teaching experience, my aim is to deliver inspiring and engaging lessons tailored to each individual student and their goals. I create a relaxed, supportive environment where students feel encouraged, offering constructive guidance to help them progress on their musical journey.

I teach students of all ages and abilities, and strongly believe it’s never too late to start learning an instrument.

Learning to play music can be incredibly rewarding. I’ll help you unlock the joy of creating music, achieving your goals, and satisfaction of developing new skills. I will also guide you to approach practice and playing analytically and constructively, whilst never losing sight of the simple pleasure and escapism music can bring.

I work with both students preparing for exams and those who prefer a more informal approach. Whether you're aiming for qualifications or playing just for fun, I provide motivating lessons with clear, achievable goals. I have experience with ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall exams, and all my students to date have passed - many with excellent results.

I offer lessons in:

Instruments: Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute

Styles: Jazz, Pop, Classical

Testimonials

  • Meridyth has been my saxophone teacher for the past nine years. When I first started, I had no idea how to play - but thanks to her guidance, I’m now at Grade 7 in Jazz Saxophone. Our lessons are always both fun and productive. She’s incredibly patient and always finds creative ways to help me improve. Her teaching methods are thoughtful and tailored, making even the most challenging techniques easier to understand and practice. Over time, I’ve discovered my authentic voice through the saxophone - all thanks to her support and encouragement.

  • Meridyth’s teaching is excellent. She engages the children she teaches and they are so enthusiastic about learning with her. She prepared my son brilliantly for Grade 5 Theory. He really enjoyed the lessons and she encouraged his enthusiasm for music generally as well as the Saxophone.

  • I’ve been learning clarinet with Meridyth for over 7 years. In that time she has guided me from being a total novice to a confident clarinettist tackling advanced music. Meridyth is an excellent teacher and devises novel practice exercises to help improve my technique. She is a fantastic musician and has greatly helped me to develop and express my unique musical identity. I highly recommend Meridyth to anyone wishing to learn or improve their musical skills.

  • I have known Meridyth for many years now and she really is a fantastic teacher! She is currently teaching my youngest son the flute (he has just taken Grade 6) and previously taught my oldest son the saxophone until he left school (Grade 8). She also taught my youngest Grade 5 theory. Meridyth is a very talented musician and is down to earth and approachable. Her passion for music shines through and this is what makes her such an inspiring teacher. Her lessons are focussed but fun and she really knows how to get the best out of her pupils - my boys have thoroughly enjoyed learning with Meridyth and her enthusiasm, patience and good humour have helped them come on in leaps and bounds.
